I photographed dishes for Inn Cornwall at the Norway Inn, the Victoria Inn in Threemilestone and the Victoria Inn in Roche. The aim was to create photographs that show the food clearly and make the dishes inviting.
Showing what is on the plate
Lighting, colour and the angle of the photograph all affect how a dish looks. I pay attention to the food itself, with the background and props supporting it rather than distracting from it.
A useful set of food photographs can give a restaurant images for its website, menus, social media and publicity. Knowing where the images will be used helps us plan the compositions and the dishes to photograph.
Planning a food shoot
