Adobe Lightroom’s introduction of HDR today is said to be a gamechanger, offering photographers enhanced capabilities with RAW files. With that in mind I decided to explore the impact of the improvements in technology over the past few months on an image I took last year – in a very recognisable location.
The first image represents the basic RAW processing available in Lightroom over the past few years, delivering satisfactory results.
The second image unleashes the power of the new HDR setting, providing more shadow and highlight detail, with a vivid boost in highlight saturation, beautifully enhancing the blue sky.
Moving to the third image, I ventured into Photoshop, utilising the new content-aware fill tool to expertly remove unwanted elements from the scene.
In the final stage, the fourth image undergoes a tweak in Luminar Neo, adding a finishing touch to the image.
The progression of technology in photography never ceases to amaze. While striving for excellence in initial captures is essential, staying updated with the latest advancements is equally crucial. This journey is just day one of exploring the potential of the new Lightroom HDR feature, and it promises exciting prospects, especially for property photography.
