Photography for Deliveroo

High-quality and polished food photography stands as an indispensable prerequisite for all restaurants affiliating with Deliveroo. This pivotal requirement is driven by a singular, yet impactful rationale: a proliferation in dish photography invariably translates to an upsurge in orders. This symbiotic relationship benefits all stakeholders involved.

Deliveroo’s comprehensive analysis has revealed compelling findings:

  • The mere inclusion of dish photography for a modest 10% of a menu yields a remarkable 12% augmentation in overall order volume.
  • Elevating this practice to encompass 30-40% of a menu escalates the order boost to an impressive 24%.
  • Furthermore, dishes accompanied by well-crafted photographs experience a noteworthy 6.5% surge in order frequency. However, it’s imperative to note the caveat: the efficacy of the photography is pivotal. Ineffectual photography, including snapshots from devices like iPhones, paradoxically leads to a decline in orders. This rationale underscores the stringent photography directives set forth by Deliveroo, arguably the most rigorous among its peers, surpassing even Uber Eats and JustEat in exacting standards. And I photograph for all three.

There are two different types of image that are required:

Hero Images (mandatory) – This can be likened to the façade of your restaurant in the digital realm. It should showcase a vibrant array of the choicest dishes from your menu.

Item Images (optional) – These populate your restaurant’s digital menu and serve as an honest representation of the consumer’s eventual delight.

The technical requirements for these images are very precise, with Deliveroo dictating angles, lighting, cropping, and even focal length/shutter speed/aperture/iso. Any deviation, and the images will not be accepted.

If you’re aiming to have your images featured on a food delivery app, you have a couple of options at your disposal. You can either request Deliveroo/Just Eat/Uber Eats to arrange a photographer for the task (which might or might not be myself), or you have the alternative to directly approach me. In the latter case, I’ll furnish you with the high-quality images necessary to fulfill the requirements.
